Become a VFFA Member
The VFFA has been around for more than 90 years, and in that time it’s become a bit of an institution – the place where keen flyfishers gather, swap stories, learn a thing or two, and generally enjoy the good life on and off the water. It’s not stuffy, it’s not pretentious – it’s just a bunch of keen flyfishers who genuinely enjoy hanging out together and doing things properly.
We’ve got around 200 members these days, and because membership is by nomination, the club stays full of people you’d happily spend a day on the river with – and just as happily have a beer with afterwards. It’s not about packing the room. It’s about the right crew, the right vibe, and keeping the culture strong.
Members get access to fun social nights at the Kelvin Club, well orgainised fishing trips, casting and tying sessions, guest speakers, and a steady flow of fishing chat online to keep the stoke up between trips. We also care about the places we fish – speaking up for the rivers and doing our bit to keep them healthy.

Get in touch via our contact form and we’ll organise a time for you to meet one of the council and get a feel for what VFFA is all about. It’s a relaxed way to connect, ask questions, and see if it’s the right fit.
To apply for membership, you’ll need a proposer and a seconder who are both current full members of the VFFA. If it feels like a good fit, we’ll help introduce you to members and guide you through that process.
City Membership 2025/26
$160 a year
If you’re based in the metro area and keen to get involved with the VFFA, our city membership is a great fit. It’s all about connecting with like-minded flyfishers, getting along to trips & events, and being part of a strong local community.

Membership renews annually on July 1

Country Membership 2025/26
$130 a year
If you’re based outside the metro area, our country membership is designed with you in mind. While you might not make every city event, you’re still very much part of the community, with plenty of opportunities to get involved, connect, and join us on trips and key gatherings.

Postal address must be outside the metro area to qualify.

Concession Membership 2025/26
$55 a year
Our concession membership option is designed to provide accessibility and inclusivity to all, ensuring that individuals on a pension and under 25’s can also benefit from the resources and community of the VFFA.

To qualify for a concession membership you must either be a pensioner, or under 25 years old. Verification will need to be provided.
Membership renews annually on July 1.
