Gordon Baker on PNG Black Bass | Thursday 15 October
$0.00
Black bass, remote rivers and a trout trap. Thursday 15 October at the Kelvin Club.
Gordon Baker has just come back from Papua New Guinea, where he went chasing black bass. These fish have a fearsome reputation. They hit like a train, bolt straight for the nearest snag and live in some of the most remote river country on the planet.
Getting there is an adventure on its own. Landing one is another thing entirely. Expect great stories, plenty of photos and a few lessons learnt the hard way.
Also on the night: John Spragg at Loombah Weir
Our President, John Spragg, will finish the night with a short talk on volunteering at the Australian Trout Foundation’s Loombah Weir project near Benalla. Brown trout are being moved out of a closed water supply catchment to make room for endangered Macquarie perch.
Volunteers live on site in small teams, watch a trout trap around the clock and get to fish water the public never sees. John will tell you what it’s really like.
