VFFA President’s Casting Day Sunday 20th September 11am

Casting is one of those things most of us learned once and have been quietly getting away with ever since. A morning on the grass with people who know what they’re looking at will do more for your fishing than a new rod ever will.

The President’s Casting Day is on at Red Tag Pool, Fairfield, kicking off at 11am. It’s a relaxed morning of casting, watching, and picking up a few things that make life easier on the water. Distance is only part of it. Line control, tight loops, roll casts and the double haul all get a run, and there’ll be plenty of members happy to have a look at what you’re doing and offer a hand.

Whether you’re new to flyfishing and still working out where the line is going, or you’ve been at it for thirty years and want to sharpen something up, come along. Bring your outfit if you’ve got one, and if you’ve got a rod you’ve never quite got the hang of, bring that too. There’s no better place to work it out.

There’ll be a BBQ running so nobody goes home hungry, and the usual talk about where the fish have been and where they haven’t.

No pressure and no competition, just a good morning outside with people who get it.

One thing worth checking before this goes out: your heading says Sunday 21 September, but 21 September 2026 falls on a Monday. Sunday is the 20th. Worth confirming which date is right, and note the same issue is sitting in the auction notice.
