There’s something about a cane rod that a modern graphite blank just can’t touch. The feel, the history, the little bit of extra patience it asks of you on the cast.
On Sunday the 30th of August, VFFA is getting together at Red Tag Club for a Cane Casting Day. Kicking off at 11am, it’s a relaxed morning of casting, comparing notes on old rods and swapping a few stories that have probably grown a bit taller over the years.
Whether you’ve got a cane rod tucked away that hasn’t seen water in years, or you’re just curious what all the fuss is about, come along. There’ll be rods to look at, casting to watch and have a go at, and a BBQ running so nobody goes home hungry.
No pressure, no competition, just a good excuse to get outside and talk flyfishing with people who get it.
